Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Rights Among Syrian Women Refugees in Lebanon

From 2022 to 2023, the IFC supported four local initiatives in Beqaa in Lebanon, supporting 35 Syrian women refugees living in Lebanon. Using a Train-the-Trainer approach, the program equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to conduct their own awareness session with their communities.

The initiative focused on two main areas: Training, communication, and facilitation skills, and sexual and reproductive rights and health. Upon completing the program, each activist received a small grant to independently organize sessions, applying the skills and knowledge gained through the training.

Building Training and Facilitation Skills

The first part of the workshops strengthens participants moderation and facilitation skills, covering the foundations of effective training, communication methods, and the responsibilities of a facilitator in guiding discussions and creating a safe learning environment.

Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Community Advocacy

The second part of the workshop focused on sexual and reproductive rights, empowering participants to understand how these rights connect to broader human rights and how they impact both individuals and communities. Topics included feminism, gender equality, power dynamics, social movements, and politics. By the end of the training, participants were able to design and deliver their own sessions on these themes, raise awareness among women in their communities, and build a supportive network with other women activist that continues to strengthen their advocacy efforts.
